Accessibility/Usability Evaluation & Testing

Is your website under-performing?

  • Is your website doing for you what you hoped it would?
  • Do you think changes need to be made to your website but don’t know exactly what?
  • Do you know how many people visit your site and what they’re doing while they are there?

If the answer to any of these questions is ‘no’, then you may need to consider having your website audited by someone experienced in website design, search engine optimisation, web usability and accessibility.

Usability

Web usability “is an approach to make web sites easy to use for an end-user, without requiring her (or him) to undergo any specialized training. The user should be able to intuitively relate the actions he needs to perform on the web page, with other interactions he sees in the general domain of life” (from Wikipedia).

Tyssen Design offers website usability audits which will look at various different aspects of your site to determine which changes can be made to improve its search engine rankings, visitor loyalty and conversions (whether it be into sales, members or subscriptions).

Some of the things looked at include:

  • navigation and site structure
  • search engine visibility
  • page loading times and image optimisation
  • site design
  • checking of links, forms and other interactive elements
  • ordering and placement of page content and elements
  • relevance, accuracy, spelling and grammar of content
  • browser compatibility

Accessibility

Web accessibility “means that people with disabilities can use the Web … can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web, and that they can contribute to the Web. Web accessibility also benefits others, including older people with changing abilities due to aging.” (from the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative).

Web accessibility is important, not only to ensure your site can be viewed and enjoyed by as many people as possible (after all, the more people who can successfully use your site, the more chances you have for making a sale or converting a lead), but also because each state of Australia has laws that relate to web accessibility.

There are clear guidelines that relate to web accessibility, and at Tyssen Design we have several years' experience working with and following these guidelines which we bring to the table when working on all client projects. We are also available to provide advice and consulting for any site that needs an accessilibity review.

These services are only available to Australian clients.
