What makes me different?

In a way, that’s a hard question to answer. Because when you’re talking about differences, you’re comparing two or more things against each other. I can tell you what I do, but I can’t really tell you what everyone else is doing. Sure, I can look at others’ portfolios but that doesn’t tell me:

  • how easy they are to work with,
  • whether they complete work on schedule or on budget,
  • whether they respond to enquiries and support requests in a timely manner,
  • whether the sites they build are actually what the client wanted and whether they serve their intended purpose properly.

All I can do is say what I do, not what others don’t. So, if any of the following are important to you, then you should definitely consider getting in contact to discuss your website project:

  • You want a site that looks good and is easy to use.
  • You want a site that will be easily found in the search engines.
  • You want a site that will work in a variety of different browsers.
  • You want a site that will work just as well on Mac & Linux operating systems as it will on Windows.
  • You want a site a that will work just as well on a handheld device as it will on your desktop computer or laptop.
  • You want a site that will work just as well under varying conditions:
    • with text size increased,
    • at different window sizes,
    • with javascript, CSS or images turned off.
  • You want a site that will be usable to people using assistive technologies and is built to a standard required by the law relating to accessibility (i.e. a standard required by Australian government websites).
  • You want a site built with web standards.
  • You want a site that looks just as good when it is printed as it does on screen.
  • You want a site with added features like:
    • content management systems so you can update it yourself,
    • photo galleries,
    • email mailing lists,
    • eCommerce capabilities for online orders.
  • You want someone to take care of all the fine details like organising hosting and registering a domain name.
  • You want someone who is professional and easy to work with (don’t just take my word for it, read what others have said).
  • You want someone who gets work done on time and budget.
  • And most importantly, you want a site that just works and does what you want it to do.
